Happy Heinys sends nearly 1 ton of Reusable cloth diapers, infant clothing, baby blankets, and small toys to orphanages in Haiti and Africa.
San Diego, Calif.- Feb 22,2010
Happy Heinys, one of the largest manufacturers of modern reusable cloth diapers, is honored to be able to help those who are less fortunate that we are. Happy Heinys has worked with several different infant orphanages around the world over the last 8 years by sending reusable diapers for the workers to use.
"Happy Heinys has actually been working with several different orphanages in Africa, Kenya, and Haiti over the last 8 yrs.", states Linda Byerline CEO. Byerline continues, "It all started 8 yrs ago when we received a picture of an infant no more than 3-4 months old sitting on a small glass pitcher. We soon learned that these babys sat on these homemade potties for hours each day due to the lack of diapering products available. Those who were lucky enough to have a diaper actually had an old worn rag wrapped around their diaper area. As a mom this broke my heart!"Byerline continued, "We quickly realized that we were in the best position to take care of these babies behinds and we have done so ever since. As other companies sell off their seconds, Happy Heinys sends them to babies in need all over the world."
As soon as news of the Haiti earthquake broke, Happy Heinys could not move fast enough to start collecting and sending donations to those in need. The need for baby items suddenly soared. Happy Heinys put out the call to all of their retailers and customers asking everyone to please send us their donations of reusable diapers, infant clothing, blankets, and small toys. The outpouring was immediate and just amazing.Within days packages from all over the country were received.
Not only were the Happy Heinys retailers and customers extremely supportive in this effort but the celebrity backing was there as well. Constance Marie and Nicole Sullivan both sent down huge boxes of clothing and toys. Many celebrities participated in our auction for signed shirts and diaper starter kits. Just to name a few: Alaina Huffman, Nancy O'Dell, Evan Handler, Tiffany Thiessen, Craig Shoemaker, Marisol Nichols, Michelle Stafford, Jolie Fisher, and many more. With all of their help Happy Heinys has succeeded in sending off nearly 1 ton of reusable diapers and infant supplies. Plus items are still arriving daily.
